SMK Negeri 2 Blitar, yang dulu disebut SMEA Negeri Blitar, berdiri sejak tangal 1 Agustus 1966. Berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan No. 145/E-1/Kedj. Tanggal 3 Agustus 1966. SMK Negeri 2 Blitar yang dulu berasal dari SMEA KOSGORO yang dinegerikan, sejak berdirinya menempati gedung bekas sekolah BAPERKI yang bertempat di Jalan Kerantil No. 20 Blitar. Sekolah ini dirintis oleh Bapak Imam Soedjana Siswawijata
Tanggal 24 Maret 1972, SMEA Negeri pindah ke Jl. Tanjung 111 Blitar dikarenakan tanah di Jl. Kerantil harus dikembalikan ke Pemerintah. Di tempat yang baru, SMEA Negeri memiliki 11 ruang kelas, ruang Guru, ruang kantor Tata Usaha, 4 kamar mandi Guru dan Murid, 8 kamar kecil, namun beberapa ruang kelas sebagian masih berada di Jl. Kerantil, karena jumlah siswa yang melebihi kapasitas.
Berdasarkan Keputusan Mendikbud RI no : 036/0/1997 tanggal 7 Maret, nama SMEA Negeri Blitar diubah menjadi SMK Negeri 2 Blitar.
Seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, Sekolah ini telah mengalami 9 kali pergantian Kepala Sekolah :
